It’s Time to Welcome Colour Back Into The Home
After a decade or so of white, white, grey and white decorating trends I was so pleased to see this blog post about colour in the home from Houzz Updates in my inbox yesterday morning.
A Sea of White
Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against white (or grey). It makes a great blank canvas. In fact, five years ago when our house was in the planning stages, my husband and I were all set on white roof over white walls with blue glass windows. Then we noticed a sea of white in our neighbourhood and knew we just couldn’t do it.
For the first time in our lives we chose not to go for the safe option. We decided to do the opposite of what everyone else was doing and paint our house bright blue. That’s how the name “Blue Beach House Art” came about.
I’ll admit that, at the time, I was very nervous about whether we had made the right decision. However, as soon as I saw it (once I got over the shock) I absolutely loved it. It seems I’m not the only one either. People are constantly stopping me when I am in the front yard to tell me how much they love the color of my house.
Don’t Be Afraid to Go For It
So I guess the point I am trying to make is you should not be afraid to embrace colour in your home. May be you think others may not like it or it might affect your resale value. Chances are if you like it then there are a lot of others who do too. So, if you love color like I do then just go for it! After all, it is just a coat of paint.
However, if you are not quite ready to take the colour-plunge, another, risk-free, way you can embrace colour in the home is to dress up your walls with colorful artworks. That way you can changed your look as often as you like.
Colour is what I am all about when it comes to my art as well, so if you need some more colour in your life take a look at my Portfolio here. If you see anything that takes your fancy you can shop online at either of my Etsy stores, Blue Beach House Art or Jenzart Creations.
